Architectural Styles

Architectural StylesDepending upon the time period, the techniques used by the architect—the architectural styles are really the form utilized in creating a project. From the binning of time, architectural style has developed and transcended time and culture developing through design and construction.

Character is everything

The architect determines the classification of the architectural style with the client at the beginning of their relationship. From ultra-modern to classical, these styles can vary and are widely used today in different settings throughout the world. The style can set a precedent for the project and truly determine the mood of the landscape in and around the building. A dentist office that looks like a castle could be an example of one creative architectural style, while uncommon—this is an actual landmark and a vision created by the owner as well as the architect creating curiosity for those who are seeking dental work—the castle is nearly a top of mind awareness piece. Just one example of many, the styles are endless and the architect is eager to have intriguing projects that serve a purpose.

Home sweet home

The architect is truly able to live out their artistic dreams upon meeting a client who is willing to be creative. Whether the interior of the home is dynamic, or the exterior—there are several architectural styles for homes. From the Cape Cod to the Tudor and everything in between—these styles are unique and with an architect, you’ll be able to put a creative spin that is precise and personal to you.

Style? Such a broad term

That’s right! Style can encompass so many different things, but what do they mean in this context? The roof shape, the placement of doors and windows, any type of décor such as cornices, trim the floor plan of the building or home, and the materials used for construction. These are all part of the architectural style of the home.

Now you’re probably thinking, but I only see certain types of homes in this part of the country—or that part of the country. You’re absolutely correct, and with the help of your architect, you’ll be able to define your style and mesh it in to the part of the country you’re living in. You wouldn’t rightfully (or be able to) build an igloo in the middle of Florida, would you? While that may be an extreme example, you get the point. Certain styles are relevant to the area due to culture, climate and code. Keep all of these in mind when you’re determining your architectural styles.
